General Manager for IRL Supplies (Prince George)
IRL Supplies is a vibrant 60 year old company serving professionals in the Forestry, Mineral Exploration, Survey and Engineering industries in Canada and around the world from our locations in Prince George, BC and Saskatoon, SK. We are customer service driven business developed by and sustained by establishing quality relationships with the people and companies that purchase from us. IRL also has a strong manufacturing division (in Prince George) for a number of different products including Flagging Tape, Snowshoes and Silviculture Truck Canopies.
We are seeking an experienced, energetic general manager with excellent interpersonal skills to help guide IRL as it continues to grow into the future. The qualified individual will be a creative thinker who is driven to see continual growth for themselves, the company and those in it, they will have a proven record in managing and coaching people on an individual basis and in a team environment.
Responsibilities
Providing direction for the company’s Prince George location (15 to 20 employees)
Taking the lead in business planning and promoting growth strategies
The ability to write and execute business plans following the company’s Vision & Mission
Fostering a positive company culture
Overseeing management staff that look after the day to day operations
Managing and providing direction for outside sales staff
Overseeing inventory management, purchasing and manufacturing of IRL brand products
Analyzing financial statements
Provide regular business progress reports and sales reports to the company owner
Assisting in the day to day work of the company as and when required.
Qualifications & Assets
-Minimum of 5 years experience as a General Manager or similar or;
-Minimum of 10 years experience with a combination of management roles
-Outside Sales experience
-Must be knowledgeable with analyzing financial statements
-Extensive experience in inventory management.
-Experience in establishing selling prices, tracking margins, sales analysis and negotiating product costs
-Proven record building and managing teams as well as individuals
-Field work experience highly beneficial particularly in Forestry (RPF or similar)(or alternately field geologist, environmental or Engineering).
-University or college degree, diploma or certificate related to business, management or financial management an asset
-An effective communicator, verbally and in writing, and proficient with common computer skills
While we list many attributes we wish to see in the successful candidate, we are not necessarily looking for the one who checks off the most boxes, we are looking for a person who can be an integral part of the IRL family, providing guidance and direction to our staff as IRL continues to grow and expand into the future. This position is ideal for an experienced General Manager who is eager to be a part of a team in a thriving company that encourages personal growth in our staff and for the company and sees opportunity in every situation.

As internet technologies have changed, so has how we do business, over the years IRL has seen numerous changes to our website with each bringing new and exciting updates.

“Thousands of members of the global mineral exploration and development industry are meeting in Vancouver from Jan. 23 to 26 at the Association for Mineral Exploration (AME) Roundup conference. Roundup marks the inaugural event in the exploration year at which we review 2016 exploration work results, celebrate successes, and discuss the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead for the industry. It is appropriate that AME Roundup is held annually in Vancouver, which is home to 800 public and private mineral exploration and mining companies active in nearly 100 countries around the world. In fact, as of the end of December 2016, there were 702 mineral exploration and mining companies based in British Columbia and listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange and TSXV exchanges, up slightly — but encouragingly — from 698 in October.
